Our volunteer tribe shows up smiling, eager to help, with a passion to support the cause. There is no ‘typical’ volunteer. When someone has a heart for this issue, we find out what they’re good at, what they love to do, and we put them to work!
Here are a few examples of the ways we use volunteers:
SPEAKER SUPPORT | Attend awareness events to manage the information table, collect contact information from those who want to learn more and help answer questions.
OUTREACH PROMOTION | Network in the community to plan awareness and training events. Connect us with potential community partners such as businesses, schools and houses of worship.
OFFICE SUPPORT | Assist with the assembly of training materials, conduct online research, help with data entry, organize survivor resources in the clothing closet and more.
FUNDRAISING | Such as a 5k, carwash, gift card drive, concert, movie night or physical challenge.
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES | Provide pro bono or reduced-fee professional services for our survivors (medical, dental, legal, counseling, auto services, career readiness, moving services, etc.) Provide pro bono or reduced-fee professional services for our organization (videography, photography, graphic design, IT support, printing, advertising, etc.)
During a time when we can give our time, talent and money to thousands of different causes how do we know the right cause? Over the years I have been a part of many different causes. Like most people I have experienced several “seasons” in my life and how I use my time, talents and money has been through changes. When my children were little, I did things they could help with like packing food at a food pantry. However, as I have matured, I have felt the calling to look for causes that are not as mainstream. The sex trafficking industry was no stranger to me. I had spent many years working with an inner city ministry. When the housing project we were working in was torn down, the ministry changed and so did my season. What did not change was my desire to help the women and young girls who were becoming a commodity on the streets of Atlanta and around the world. My season has changed once again, and Rescuing Hope is currently the perfect cause for me.
